Using Stories
Stories are very powerful for helping people accept and discuss ideas as well as for learning and using new (and already mastered) language.
One way of using stories is to help learners create their own stories, for example in the 'Language Experience Approach':
Other ways of using stories include:
- picture dictation (the teacher can first 'dictate' a story by telling the story and getting learners to draw their own pictures of the story; learners then re-tell the story from their pictures. After that, learners can have different stories to 'dictate' to partners, who draw the story.)
