In Britain, politicians and the media often say people should be afraid of their neighbours. They say people should be angry at the unknown people who live next door. But Friends And Neighbours (FAN) groups started to make a difference with the power of conversation.

The idea has now moved to Pakistan, with the same structure and ideas. They have regular meetings of about an hour which start and finish with the same words. Everyone who goes has some time to talk about a topic.

The FAN charity supports these groups, but says it is not an activist organization. FAN has brought people together and made people think about how they relate to other people.

This year was the 10-year anniversary of the FAN network. You can listen to Amy Hall speaking to FAN fans in England, Wales and Pakistan to find out how the meetings have helped them.
