The Atlas of Migration in Europe: a critical geography of migration policies is probably the best critical analysis of the EU’s effect on political asylum and immigration in the European Union in recent years.

Each year, hundreds of migrants die at sea in simple boats with too many people. They are trying to escape from countries in crisis or war and cannot travel legally because the European borders, especially in the south and east, are now stricter. International law is often restricted or denied. So migrants are in an almost impossible situation.

The book has many maps, charts and photographs to help understand the text. For each theme, the Atlas has more than a hundred maps, graphics, texts and photographs: all these help us understand the border changes, the control infrastructure and the security development of migration in Europe and beyond.
